Robert Wennberg, author of The Linn Saga, wearing a vintage SpaceX Falcon 9 cap. Black and white portrait with a warm smile.

My name is Robert Wennberg and I am aspiring author with a global mindset and a Swedish foundation.

I am married to an Isaan Thai woman and father to two daughters. Our multicultural family life, combined with extensive personal travels across Thailand, Sweden, and beyond, deeply influences my storytelling. Every location in the Linn Saga is grounded in places I have actually lived in or visited.

In my spare time, I enjoy foraging; ramson, black trumpet mushroom, galangal, or lemon grass, or fishing; char, grayling, zander, bonefish, steelhead or walking catfish. All depending on where I am at the moment.

I want my stories to be not only captivating, but also real and true. That means sometimes showing the world as it is — raw, rough, and coarse — and at other times revealing its kind, sweet, and gentle side. Just like life.

“When I’m not writing near-future systems or alternate history fiction, I’m still chasing the old rocket dreams.”

The Sand Island Gambit

It is story complete at 124,000 words in First draft state I will then of course bog down in polish way too long. But pitching to agents is just about to start.

It is a alternative history military thriller. But it carries with it my family and emotional focus. I have set a very high bar in not making any bright white heroes or black villains.

I would like to think of it as a plausible scenario set in September 2023, one where from the PoD will have several ripple effects that readers should love.

The excitement I feel writing it made me want to share these breadcrumbs about the project and I hope my style comes through and delivers also under this quite different premise.

As a final teaser I give this unpolished prose quote:

'Klemens looked at her arm with an unimpressed look.
“What moron dressed this?”
Natt laughed dryly.
“You are looking at her, I am afraid. I had to change it while driving south on the 140 from the garrison…”
Klemens nodded and made an apologetic smile.
“Well, that changes things. Now if you were a horse I am allowed to draw a blood test and make a sed rate, but now here we are and I will have to wing it and say you may have a nascent bacterial infection. Nothing serious for now, but both cuts need new dressing and the deep one needs cleaning.”
Natt nodded matter-of-factly.
“Do what you must, Doc…”'

The Linn Saga

Primary signal: active.

A system begins to behave differently.

Not incorrectly.

Just… differently.

Set in the near future, the Linn Saga explores a world where networks, surveillance, and AI systems operate as designed— and still produce outcomes no one can fully control.

At the center is Linn Edström, a Thai–Swedish hacker drawn into a system she does not fully understand— where time fractures, identities shift, and the past refuses to stay contained.

Across the saga:

  • systems behave correctly, but consequences escalate
  • signals appear without clear origin
  • families are separated, and reconnected across time and distance
  • culture and language shape every decision, not just the code

Read more about the three books:

  • Synchronicity Signal
  • Canal Signal
  • Continuity Signal

The story moves across Bangkok, Stockholm, Laos, and beyond—
grounded in real environments, but shaped by systems that no longer behave predictably.

Teasers

Here are a few early glimpses into what’s currently taking shape:

  • “The US Lunar landings where quaint, they went once with chemical rockets and left golf balls. We have a permanent base and a fusion-drive roadmap now.”
  • “Centauri Dreams is dead. They took the second missile for us. It is only us now! Engage emergency burn at 0.15G using contingency fuel!”
  • Book 4 of the Linn Saga; "She is so beautiful Linn..."

These fragments come from different projects currently in development — ranging from near-future alternate history to far-future space opera.

More will be revealed as the work progresses.
